Comment: Simulating the Economic Effects of Privatizing Social Security in Light of the Demographic Transition
This grant supports the creation of a simulation model that will enable policy makers to measure the long-term impact that changes in demography will have on Social Security. Lawrence Kotlikoff will enhance an existing simulation model so that it can extend the projections currently used by the Social Security Administration beyond a 75-year time horizon and simulate the impact of how proposals to reform Social Security would be affected by a wide range of economic conditions.
