Comment: Central Asia Institute This grant supports the establishment of the Central Asia Institute, the only research organization in Washington, DC, with an exclusive focus on Central Asia and the Caspian basin region. The institute will convene a series of meetings and conferences on critical issues affecting the internal political evolution and foreign policies of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrghizstan, Tajikistan, and Azerbaijan. It will also serve to foster contacts between the foreign policy communities of the United Staes and the countries of the region.
