Comment: Reconsidering the Federal Poverty Measure
Doug Besharov will lead an effort to develop better measures of the well being of disadvantaged Americans. He will commission research to assess the strengths and weaknesses of a range of different measures of well being. He will also convene a series of meetings with officials from the Census Bureau and other government agencies to examine the possibility for reforming the government's official poverty measure. The project's findings will appear in a single-author book.
