Walter Stone will research and write a book with Sandy Maisel on the factors that shape the decisions of public figures who choose to run for seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. They will survey potential congressional candidates in 200 electoral districts and examine why they opted either to run or not to run for office.

This grant supports a study of the effects of nurse home visitors on children and mothers. The impact of the nurse home visitors will be measured by comparing thtcomes of mothers and children who were randomly assigned to a treatment group and those who were assigned to a control group. The findings will be published in professional journals.
