On August 25, 2006 Ligonier Ministries filed a defamation lawsuit, seeking $15,000 in alleged "damages" against a Christian blogger, Frank Vance. Ligonier's suit also sought prior restraint on Vance's free speech by seeking an injunction preventing him from making further public disclosures of alleged internal corruption. Ligonier was ultimately compelled to withdraw their lawsuit. However, they have publicly announced their intentions to sue Vance again, if they are given the opportunity. Ligonier donors should be apprised that donor funds are being spent not only to pay for attorneys for such purposes, but that Ligonier also paid private detectives in the Ligonier Ministries vs. Frank Vance lawsuit.
