The RAND Corporation was set up by the federal government after World War II to assist in establishing public policy “through research and development.”

Proving the deep hypocrisy that Conservative Republicans - while preaching self-sufficiency and limited government - are the ones who MOST benefit from government subsidization, Herman Kahn, after leaving the government-subsidized RAND environment, would later go on to found the rabidly free-market Hudson Institute.
