Comment: Preventing Juvenile Crime: Restorative Justice Conferences as an Innovative Response to Juvenile Crime This grant supports research on the effectiveness of restorative justice conferences, an alternate form of sentencing for juvenile offenders. Edward McGarrell will compare a randomly assigned sample of juvenile offenders who participate in restorative justice conferences with a sample of youths who pass through the conventional juvenile justice system. The project will produce books, scholarly articles, and briefings for a variety of law enforcement, judicial, educational, and community groups.
