RECIPIENT PROFILE

Institute for Educational Affairs

[From The Feeding Trough]

In 1978, William Simon and Irving Kristol founded the New York based Institute for Educational Affairs (IEA), a neoconservative organization.

The purpose of the IEA is to "...seek out promising Ph.D. candidates and undergraduate leaders, help them establish themselves through grants and fellowships and then help them get jobs with activist organizations, research projects, student publications, federal agencies or leading periodicals."

IEA received start-up grants of $100,000 from the Olin, Scaife, J.M and Smith Richardson foundations, as well as substantial contributions from the Coca-Cola, Dow Chemical, Ford Motor Co., General Electric, K-Mart, Mobil and Nestle corporations

One of the IEA's noted beneficiaries was Dinesh D'Souza, author of the infamous book "The End of Racism."
