David Horowitz Freedom Center

Los Angeles, CA 90035

Note: In July, 2006, the Center for the Study of Popular Culture changed its name to the David Horowitz Freedom Center. All grants to the DHFC prior to July 2006 were made to the CSPC.

[Also see: David Horowitz]

The Center for the Study of Popular Culture (CSPC) received $125,000 from the Olin Foundation and more than $480,000 from the Bradley Foundation in 1994, and has received substantial funds from the Sarah Scaife Foundation. Its mission, according to a recent CSPC direct mail appeal, is to "change the leftist, anti-American, elitist culture that is dominant in the entertainment industry [and to expose] the idiocies and the viciousness of the radical leftism in universities, the media, mainstream churches, and everywhere else this modern plague is found." The Committee on Media Integrity (COMINT), leader in the de-funding attacks on public television, is a project of the CSPC.

David Horowitz, a lapsed leftist and former speechwriter for Senator Bob Dole (R.-Kansas), and his co-chair Peter Collier head two interrelated liberal-bashing organizations, the Committee on Media Integrity (COMINT), and the Center for the Study of Popular Culture. COMINT spearheaded recent attacks against the Corporation for Public Broadcasting; CSPC focuses on "political correctness" and publishes a newsletter, Heterodoxy, full of mean-spirited rant about blacks, feminists, and homosexuals. Subscriptions to Heterodoxy or COMINT's Journal cost $25.

Discover the Secret Right-Wing Network Behind ABC's 9/11 Deception

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/max-blumenthal/discover-the-secret-right_b_29015.html

In fact, "The Path to 9/11" is produced and promoted by a well-honed propaganda operation consisting of a network of little-known right-wingers working from within Hollywood to counter its supposedly liberal bias. This is the network within the ABC network. Its godfather is far right activist David Horowitz, who has worked for more than a decade to establish a right-wing presence in Hollywood and to discredit mainstream film and TV production. On this project, he is working with a secretive evangelical religious right group founded by The Path to 9/11's director David Cunningham that proclaims its goal to "transform Hollywood" in line with its messianic vision.

David Horowitz: It’s All About Him

http://www.antiwar.com/blog/2006/07/07/david-horowitz-its-all-about-him/

Inspired, perhaps, by the recent prominence of North Korea in the news, over in the Land of the Neocons David Horowitz is doing his Kim il-Sung imitation. His “Center for the Study of Popular Culture” has been renamed: it is now the “David Horowitz Freedom Center.”

Richard Poe's Not-So-Secret War

http://conwebwatch.tripod.com/stories/2005/poe.html

He sums up his Hillary-bashing book in a series of WorldNetDaily articles that ignores evidence that conflicts with his conspiratorial thesis -- and fails to disclose his own conflict of interest

In an apparent attempt to capitalize on Edward Klein's factually flawed book attacking Hillary Clinton, Richard Poe pounded out a 10-part WorldNetDaily series based on his 2004 WorldNetDaily-published book, "Hillary's Secret War," which purports to describe according to Poe "how Hillary Clinton and the left's 'shadow government' have labored to put her and her far-left agenda in the White House by controlling the still-uncensored flow of real news to Americans -- via the Internet."

Poe's WND series, however, is filled with uncorroborated statements and long-discredited assertions. Additionally, he bashes liberal billionaire George Soros and lionizes and whitewashes conservative billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife -- while hiding the fact that Scaife plays a role in providing him a steady paycheck.

When he's not pounding out anti-Hillary screeds, Poe has a day job working for the David Horowitz-operated Center for the Study of Popular Culture as an investigative editor as well as managing editor of Horowitz's group blog Moonbat Central.

David Horowitz: College Assassin for Hire

http://www.interventionmag.com/cms/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=1111&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0

Former left-wing radical turned right-wing gadfly David Horowitz is engaged in a well funded mission to seize control of America's so called "liberal" universities to silence their opposition to the radical right.

"Students" for Academic Freedom? Right.

http://www.campusprogress.org/page/community/post_group/main/VMR

The organization is actually just a wing of Horowitz's Center for the Study of Popular Culture and it is staffed by a recent graduate...SAF is working closely with the American Legislative Exchange Council to pass legislation. SAF's website has a list of existing legislation. Look out California, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Ohio, and Tennessee, legislation is already introduced.

David Horowitz's Campus Jihads

story.php?storyID=34

At Ball State University..."WANTED" posters with a headshot of Professor Abel Alves appeared on campus a few weeks back; a student who took Associate professor David Gibbs' "What is Politics?" class at the University of Arizona claimed Gibbs "is an anti-American communist who hates America and is trying to brainwash young people into thinking America suck." It's the Horowistas, a small but hearty band of followers of right wing provocateur, David Horowitz and his Students for Academic Freedom
