This grant supports a project to update, refine and document a scale used to measure the quality of early childhood environments, the Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale or ECERS. The revised scale will incorporate new understanding regarding health, safety, interaction, diversity, and literacy. The scale can help evaluators measure and compare the quality of childcare, earlyeducation, and home settings.
